"Vulnerability is a guardian of integrity."
Maybe there is always a voice in your head telling you you are not enough, maybe you are longing for connections but fear being hurt, maybe you suddenly realize you did not experience joy in a long time. Life often presents us with various challenges, but you don’t have to face it alone.
I strive to create a safe and brave space where my clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore their needs and feelings. My approach to therapy is person-centered, relational, and integrative, meaning that I work alongside my clients to identify their goals, build upon their strengths, and develop skills to thrive in life. I draw from various therapeutic modalities, such as psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based techniques.
Therapy is a journey and if you read this, you already took the first step forward. I invite you to embark on this healing journey to embrace vulnerability and live life to the fullest potential. It is never too late to want something different.
About Summer
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Growing up in a culture where there is a lot of stigma around mental health and mental disorders, I experienced firsthand as well as witnessed those around me how difficult emotions are often not talked about openly. Such conversations would usually turn into remarks like “You are too sensitive,” “You are too emotional,” or “Why can’t you just be happy?” There is no hierarchy of suffering. Like you, I have been on both sides of the therapy room. Becoming a therapist is my way of giving back to all the people who supported me through my ups and downs. I view it as a great privilege to bear witness to so many powerful stories and transformations, and I feel very lucky that there is always someone in my life reminding me why I chose this path.
What should someone know about working with you?
The essence of our work together is rooted in a trusting human relationship. When you show up as your true self, our work becomes more effective and meaningful. My intake process typically involves an initial consultation and the first session to understand your needs and goals. Progress is unique to each individual and may include moments of insight, emotional release, or behavioral changes.
Therapy is not always comfortable, especially when we confront our fears or reveal our wounds. It is okay to feel anxious, overwhelmed, or exposed. I want to hold space for you to explore what it is like to feel, regulate, or tolerate each emotion. I am here with you as you gain more access to your whole self and reclaim your sense of agency.
Who is your ideal client?
I enjoy working with clients who are willing to take risks and stay open-minded throughout the therapeutic process. Therapy often can feel like stepping outside of one's comfort zone, so I encourage you to be patient and compassionate with yourself. If something doesn’t sit well with you, please let me know. There is no one right way to do therapy, and I want to accompany you to find what works best for you.
Are there any aspects of your personal self, therapeutic approach, or viewpoints that might be slightly controversial or challenge norms?
I once read in an article for a trauma class that “If the first time someone falls madly in love with you, that’s a bridge to you eventually falling madly in love with yourself. If you grow up not loving yourself, somebody else has to really love you before it’s contagious.” I believe therapy is such a medium where you can gradually internalize your self-worth and the care you deserve, which ultimately can translate into self-love.

As an international student, I often grapple with the feeling of being stuck between two cultures that it is difficult to find a sense of belonging. One crucial lesson I have learned is the importance of owning our identities to show up in life authentically. Embracing who we are, with all our complexities and nuances, is essential for self-acceptance and personal growth. In my practice, I aim to create a space where all identities are celebrated, and the intersectionality of various identities can be openly explored. By acknowledging and valuing each individual’s unique cultural background, personal experiences, and systemic influences, I believe clients can learn to express themselves without shame or fear.
